Crack the Glass: Blackout Poetry

WP_20160203_003

Crack the glass.
A fracture.
Pieces to carry.
Arms cushion.

She used deception:
A master trick,
Scheming.
Fill.

His thrust,
Force up bone,
Pain hinder,
Limit.

Decipherable:
The collision
Smash.
A drop,
His collapse.
The crash,
A bang,
Her collapse.

This is something which takes me back to first year Uni.  You work around a set page of text and expand it into something more: your poetry of choice within a constrained frame.  You may think “Sure, that’s easy”, but when you are using a Thesaurus, it can be quite tricky.  Sure, you have a bunch of words which all mean similar things and could work really well together, but the skill is in the joining of words to make sentences and more than that, to make a story.
