Being the handy graphic designer I am, I decided to create a ‘logo’ of sorts for my upcoming post about branding and transmedia for BCM112
I wanted the logo to illustrate the different layers of a story through visual suggestion, while also highlighting the main theme of the topic in a simple and effective manner.
The thick black lines are used to represent different timelines of the main narrative arc, existing around each other, but not necessarily in the same time, medium, or through the same characters.
The use of thin parallel diagonal lines highlight how the narrative can be extended though different perspectives, taking elements from the main narrative (see how the lines connect back to the main ‘topic’), while also exploring different aspects of the universe. The use of parallel lines is also key, as it highlights the idea of each sub section standing alone without needing to connect directly to other sub areas, while still adding to the total understanding of the narrative universe.
This is of course just an abstract visual representation of transmedia, but it was an interesting creation to make.
